why is it necessary to relax for hypnosis to work?

well for hypnotism to work you have to feel relaxed and if you don’t feel you can trust the hypnotist then you cant feel completely relaxed so it will be a lot harder if not imposible to hypnotise you

No disrespect intended AJ, but I don’t think you understand what hypnotism or memory are. Hypnotism ‘puts’ you into a very relaxed state (ideally) – it won’t give you abilities that you didn’t have before. As for memory, you can learn ’systems’ that need a little practice – it really depends on what you want to memorize. As for making your memory ‘better’ without any conscious work on your part, besides sleeping and eating well, being generally relaxed and happy and being interested in the subject you’re trying to remember, I don’t think there are any short cuts.

I know there is hypnosis for weight loss and quitting smoking, but what about bad habits such as biting your nails, or cracking your knuckles?

Yes, it will work. Hypnotism is about ‘messing’ with the thought process. Making suggestions that your mind will follow. Hypnotism will not make you do something that you really do not want to do (like dance like a chicken or kill someone) but overeating, smoking or any bad habit you want to break can be suggested through hypnotism and it usually works.

I was wondering if it was really true that hypnotism can really make you recall memories you forgot about? Someone told me once that it could, so id really like to know if its possible?

yes you can, in fact I did it a couple of times in my life. You see the hypnotism simply is relaxing the mind, like meditation, and is reducing the amount of stimuli that confuses the mind and makes it forgetful. The more stimuli, the less likely the mind is able to recount important history, thus once the mind goes into the trance, and relaxes, and the amount of stimuli which distracts is reduced then the mind is thus able to think more clearly and recount data.

Yes it’s possible. I had a friend go to a large show and end up hypnotized…her husband noticed sometime the next day. really quite dangerous, she was acting so odd he was about to take her to the hospital. Luckily a quick phone call to the hypnotist led to a very brief meeting and she was fine.

Can hypnotism help me succeed in school?

Ive done incredible in school all my life. Then I enter high school and my grades just drop out if the blue. I’m wondering if hypnotism can help my situation. If so where can I get this procedure?

I am seeing a hypnotist to help me try and deal with some major personal aggravation in my life at present. The hypnosis involves recalling lots of stressful / bad events in my life, but I can’t really get a straight answer as to how and why this helps with the current problem? Any ideas?

By looking into the past one may find the answers to the present.
