  • Has anyone ever used hypnotherapy cd’s, and if so did they work?

    Posted by admin on November 29th, 2009 and filed under hypnotherapy weight loss | 3 Comments »

    I’m trying to curb my appetite… friend that tried the stop smoking one had a lot of success… I’m wondering if anyone has tried the weight loss one and had any success?

    I’ve tried one for relaxation, smoking and weight loss… and to be honest, they didn’t work for me. But everyone is different. Some people are just more open to the powers of hypnosis than others. I think my subconscious is just as stubborn as I am! lol!

    why does hypnosis work for these things?

    Hello,
    Paul McKenna has a book called ‘I can make you thin’ and comes with a hypnotic cd. Thousands of people have lost weight by this. Hypnosis works by changing old habits which might not now be so good and creating new more beneficial ones. The conscious rational mind is bypassed and suggestions made to the unconscious which is the seat of our habits etc.

    Where can i go to school for a NLP and Hypnotherapy certification?

    NLP= neuro linguistic

    Hypnotherapy = hypnosis.

    I’m going for my PHD in clinical psychology and i want to know where i can find accredited schools for those certificate.

    Both areas are heavily litigated due to claims of malpractice and complaints by patients. My recommendation would be to study law so that you can protect yourself from lawsuits and then find places that offer the certificates.

    How can i stop my dad from smoking?

    Posted by admin on November 29th, 2009 and filed under stop smoking | 8 Comments »

    He’s reaching the half century mark in about 2 years and I’m really starting to get worried for him. I understand how hard it is for him to quit smoking but I want to say something to him that will make him stop. I am his 16 year old son, and he should care about my life and his life. My friend stopped his father from smoking by saying to his father that if he doesn’t stop smoking, that he’ll start. I can’t say that to my dad because he knows my friend said that to his dad. Any suggestions?

    Well, I was married to a heavy smoker for years. Nobody can make a person quit. They need encouragement, and the desire to stop. Money is a big factor these days if one doesn’t care about their health.. You could suggest that Dad try joining a group who are trying to quit.. Nagging only makes it worse.. Now and then encouragement and expressing your worries about his health could help.. My now ex stopped when a neighbor whose wife got pregnant and he had promised to quit when she did, asked my then spouse if he wanted to make it a competition.. They both won the contest.. Both stopped! So, that’s another type of way to give it a good try… Maybe even have a little money pool among his friends if they are smokers and want to quit. Not alot of money just a few as prize to the winner to devided if more than one winner.. Maybe you could handle it.. Smoking is one of the strongest addictions from what I’ve been told.. Good Luck to you, and your dad..

    Hypnotists get audience members up on stage to act like fools. Is it an act or do they really have that power?

    they use repetitiveness and slow you into a trance called the REM cycle….you are aware of everything, your eyes move around, however you can not control your actions. it is as if your mind (the voice of the hypnotist) is pulling you into a dream

    Also theres a woman on myspace called Ask Amy, (even though her page says its for teens, she does help adults) & shes helped me, so much. I would suggest talking to her, b/c she could really help you.

    Have any of you had practiced GUIDED AFFECTIVE IMAGERY / SYMBOLDRAMA ?

    How have you found the results?
    Any links/sites/books etc?

    Thank you

    Pam

    I taylor every Hypnosis Session, just for that Client. The answer is…yes, I use:

    1.Guided Imagery
    2.Kenistetic Imagery
    3.Sence of Smell also helps.
    4.Visualization, depending on the type of person.

    Some people are more of the hearing type, than of the visual type, as you know.

    Depends on what you are treating them PT. for.

    What’s the difference between being hypnotized and being mesmerized?

    Posted by admin on November 29th, 2009 and filed under hypnotized | 4 Comments »

    I alwasy see stuff like that on tv. Is there a difference?

    Mesmerised is when you’re consciously and intentionally immersed in something, usually due to its beauty or engaging quality i.e. "I was mesmerised by the scenery".

    Hypnotised is when you’re placed into a semi-conscious state (between sleep and waking) by way of a hypnotist and are not fully aware of what is going on (though it is usually always consensual and pre-arranged).

    The word ‘hypnotised’ is sometimes used as a replacement for mesmerised. they allude to being in the same state of immersion but the circumstances are different.
