Hi,
I gave up smoking last July for 7 months, following hypnotherapy. I have still not smoked. However I have also had a baby therefore haven’t had time!
I am very overweight (5 foot 2 inches and 13.5 stone). I have tried and tried to continue with diets. I visit the gym twice a week for salsacise, and core ball exercise, but still don’t seem to shift any weight. I take pushchair out twice a week for about half a mile to a mile.
My downfalls are cheese, margarine, bread, potatoes and wine.
Does anyone know if hypnotherapy is likley to work for a person like me?
Hello
You already have proof that it works, so go for it!
Having a baby does not normally help people stop smoking, it usually keeps it going lol – your not smoking due to the hypnotherapy that you have already enjoyed.
Good luck

I heard that with self-hypnosis you can control your subconscious which implies that you can also rid yourself of bad habits, increase your concentration….etc… in other words you can CHANGE yourself.
Is it true? if so, does it have any side-effects? Is there a simple way to do it? and How?
it is simple, it is not unlike meditating or using affirmations.
Don’t just ask a friend to hypnotize you.
=================
since there is an underlying cause to some bad habits, it is possible that you might inadvertently change one bad habit for another (like going from smoking to drinking.)
so you might consider suggesting to yourself an exchange, such as, "i will chew gum when i feel the urge to smoke."

I was reading a book description online about how hypnotism can help in all sorts of places in life, at work, at school, in the bedroom. It seems like a really interesting subject, I am just wondering if it really works, and if anyone has stories about really being hypnotised. Thanks!
it only works if you accept the hypnotist, that’s the key to sublimity and acceptance. i have hypnotized people gain confidence.reject their fear of sex public speaking and meeting new people. hypnotized one lady who thought she was the cause of her mothers passing. she recalled all the details and knew she was not the cause . first step is the library, then visit several hypnotist and select one you feel secure with

I tried hypnotherapy one time for anxiety and it helped a lot, but I heard hypnosis can be temporary. I was wondering if people could share with me their hypnosis stories and tell me if they feel like it helped or not?
It can depend a lot on the type of hypnotherapy used. The term "hypnotherapy" is a huge ‘umbrella term" that can be used to describe a lot of different types of therapy.
"Suggestion therapy", which is the type most people think of when they think of hypnotherapy, does have it’s place, but like you said, many people do find that the benefit that they get from it can be temporary… I like to refer to is as ‘managing’ symptoms, more than getting over them.
Other therapies, like pure hypnoanalysis can be a lot more beneficial in the long run.
It does of course depend on the type of anxiety you have, how long it’s been going on, whether there’s any kind of current situations causing you stress, whether you’ve been diagnosed with any mental health issues etc… but it mat well be worth looking into.
Hope that helps.

I’m curious: do people end up doing strange or bizarre things guided by a stage hypnotist? Anyone try it? Would you do it again?
i have seen people do really weird things, but these people were actors and didn’t actually seem "hypnotized". i think they were just trying to impress their friends, but really, who knows.
