As a christian I was always taught hypnotism was wrong, but does anyone have any proof that the devil can enter your mind while under hypnosis?
What about the evangelist religions who seem to use similar methods to inspire or control their followers?
The word hypnotism comes from the Greek it means "to cast a spell" it is a form of witchcraft.
Something to consider…
Deuteronomy 18:9-14
9 "When you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations.
10 "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
11 or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
12 "For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you.
13 "You shall be blameless before the LORD your God.
14 "For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so.
I maintain that hypnosis is spiritually dangerous. The following article says it better than I can: http://www.psychoheresy-aware.org/hypnos93.html
Here are the final 3 paragraphs which sums everything up:
A fact rarely mentioned by hypnotists is that whatever physical healing is accomplished with hypnosis can also be accomplished without it. The Modern Synopsis of Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry/II states, "Everything done in psychotherapy with hypnosis can also be done without hypnosis." We believe that it is not only unnecessary to use hypnosis but potentially dangerous. Even though hypnosis may currently be used by medical doctors, it originated from and is still practiced by witch doctors. Even medical hypnosis practiced by a Christian may be a disguised doorway and subtle enticement into the demonic realm. It may not be as obvious an entree to evil as occult hypnosis, and therefore it could be even more dangerous for an unsuspecting Christian who would otherwise avoid the occult.
Are people in the church being enticed to enter the twilight zone of the occult because hypnosis is now called "science" and "medicine"? Let those who call the occult "science" tell us what the difference is between medical and occultic hypnosis. And let those Christians who call it "scientific" explain why they also recommend that it be performed only by a Christian. If hypnosis is science indeed, why the added requirement of Christianity for the practitioner? There is a scarcity of adequate long-term studies of those who have been hypnotized. And there have been none which have examined the effect on the individual’s resulting faith or interest in the occult.
Before hypnotism becomes the new panacea from the pulpit, followed by a plethora of books on the subject, its claims, methods, and long-term results should be considered. Arthur Shapiro has said, "One man’s religion is another man’s superstition and one man’s magic is another man’s science." Hypnosis has become "scientific" and "medical" for some Christians with little proof of its validity, longevity of its results, or understanding of its nature. Because there are so many unanswered questions about its usefulness and so many potential dangers about its usage, Christians should shun hypnosis.

I am considering trying hypnotherapy to recover lost memories of abuse. Would hypnotherapy be a good option? I was raped when I was 6 and can’t remember anything. I want to understand why I act the way I do and where this extreme behaviour stems from. Will hypnotherapy work?
Hypnosis is just as likely to create false memories as it is to uncover ‘repressed’ memories.
Here’s a better idea: find a counselor or friend who can sit with you while you ‘re-tell’ the story… where the six year old STOPS the rape from happening… or the present-day you STEPS IN to the scene and saves the six year old from getting hurt. That would be much more empowering that ‘recovering’ a frozen memory.

Hi I have a question about hypnosis. What would happen if the hypnotist stopped half way through without waking the subject, is it dangerous for the person in trance or would they just wake up like normal without any side affects.
If you are under hypnosis and the hypnotist suddenly left the room, two things may happen. You will either realize that the hypnotist is no longer talking to you, and will open your eyes, feeling fresh and alert. Or, you may drift into natural sleep, in which case you will wake up after a few minutes (or hours). So, the subject can come out of the trance on his own.

Can someone tell me how to find a legitamate hypnotherapist? My boyfriends considering trying this to help him quit smoking! Has anyone had any experience with hypnotherapy and did it work? I’m a bit sceptical!
National register of hypotherapists and Psycotherapists (NRHP) can be found in yellow pages and probally have a web site. If your boyfriend has the right mind set it should work also try accupressure or good old will power.

I love dogs and cats but whenever my pets have an accident, i can’t clean it up because I’ll get sick (literally).
I still live at home so my mom cleans it up, so it’s not like I have piles of uncleaned accidents in my house.
Can I get hypnotized so I won’t be grossed out by that stuff?
Hypnosis can be used to help with issues like this.
I’ve worked with someone in the past that had a similar reaction to the smell of vinegar. Worked out that smell triggered a bad association she had in the past with it. Hypnosis can assist in dealing with these triggers and association.
Hope it helps,
